Fitness Challenge

So I'm on Day 2 of the Yoga Journal 20 Fitness Challenge, and I've got to say, this can be pretty intense stuff.  I was introduced to yoga through the Wii Fit Plus, and videos through Youtube and Netflix (BTW: Netflix doesn't have any fitness videos on streaming anymore, LAME!).  I have the Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown DVD, I love her workouts, they are always so challenging.  Anyways, back on track...I'm logging my workouts on SocialWorkout.  My goal is to increase flexibility by incorporating the 20-day challenge to my everyday routine (slim-fast and working out).  Let's see how it goes!

OH! I've already lost 10 lbs from regular exercise and Slim-fast, so that means I now weigh 138 lbs.  My jeans are all getting too big, I had to go shop for a pair of shorts that actually fit.  I was finally able to buy a size 6, I haven't worn that size in years!

Belated Birthday Gifts from Moms!

I haven't seen my Hubby's moms since before my birthday, and when we went to see them this past Saturday they gave me presents! YAY!

I'm going on my 4th month of school, I love it! It's great! I'm getting steps closer to my dream. I plan to do Medical Assisting to be able to save up for Mortuary School. I'll get there one day :)

Painkillers and Embroidery

The past couple days I've been taking tramadol for abdominal pain due to an ovarian cyst. Since it left me a bit useless to chores, it allowed me a chance to finish up an embroidery project I started. I don't remember where I found the patterns, but I'm happy with how it turned out. Have a look-see.

Now I'm trying to finish up a pillowcase for my husband, with Cthulhu on it. Will post pictures later.

My New Year Resolution

The new year is in just a couple days, and my resolution is to lose 35 pounds by June. Thanks to the wonderful Depo shot, I gained about 20 pounds, after losing that much weight. Awesome right? Now I'm on a different (hormone-free) method, that I feel will give me the ability to motivate myself, without the mood swing/hormonal B.S.

The book I'm going to be following for my exercises is "Reshape Your Body" by Chrissie Gallagher-Mundy. The book contains 4 6-week programs: stomach & waist, bottom & hips, legs & thighs, and arms & upper body; along with the warm-ups and stretches for each program. I used this book the last time I lost 20 lbs, and the exercises made me feel great.

Dieting, I think I'm going to take Slim-Fast the mornings I have school (4 days/wk), and well-portioned healthy meals, not sure of the menu yet, but I'll figure that out as I go.

Hanging Owlies *upcycled Toms shoe inserts*

I absolutely love owls! I love them so much that my hubby is letting me decorate/theme the apartment with different types of owls! We don't have much, but what we do have to far is:

Hedwig, my Build-a-Bear owl...That's right I'm a big Harry Potter fan.

We got me a pair of Toms Shoes for when I start school, and when I saw the inserts I thought they seemed a bit owlish, so I decided to upcycle them into Owl wall hangers, and that is what I was working on today.



Now that I have that project finished, I'm starting an owl filet crochet pillow, using white crochet thread and blue cotton fabric. My goal is to make different styles of pillows for each month to go on the couch. Let's see how that goes. Time to get hooking, I mean crocheting!
